How can I find the best Atlanta House Painting service? I’ve been looking but am unsure of where to start.
Having been a painter and paint contractor for many years you are making the right first move by asking before you do something you will regret. Here is what I recommend. If you have further questions feel free to email me. I’ll help if I can.
1) call several companies from the phone book and get estimates. These should be free, if not contact somebody else.
2) Never hire anyone that you know about because you have a flier that they left!!!
3) The lowest price is not a good way to decide who to hire. The lower priced guy is likely to be the most trouble. A lot of reasons. you will just have to trust me on that.
4) Be sure to get several references for each contractor and be sure to check them out.
5) Be sure that the contractor is both Licensed, and shows you proof that he has insurance!
6) You might even want to contact the Better Business Bureau to see if there are ant complaints against the contractor. If you have done the other things I recommended then this is optional.
7) Call around and find out the local laws governing contractors and paying them. Many places have limits on how much money the contractor can ask for up front. Never pay more than that amount.
make sure that there is a written contract. do not hire anyone with only a estimate of the final cost. Make sure that the contract is written so tat there is a set price so that you will not get charged more than what you agree to.
9) Make sure that the contract states in detain exactly what is to be done, what preparation is to be done, who supplies the paint, Paint brand, …etc. Don’t leave any detail out of the contract no matter how small.
10) Always use the best quality paint you can get. Most any brand is fine as long as you stick to the well known brands.
11) When selecting colors. I always tell people to pick a color that is one shade lighter than the one they think they want. This is because once the whole surface is painted the colors seem to be slightly darker than they do when looking at a paint sample. I’ve been thanked for that advice many times.
There is more that I can tell you but this should keep you from getting into trouble.
Good Luck!
